Living in the city
A few famous cities around the world are Tokyo, Johannesburg, New York, São Paulo, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Milan and Dubai. They're known for their architecture, tourist attractions, culinary ranking, fashion sense, culture and art scene.
While some people may find living in the city too noisy or too busy and prefer to take retreat in the suburbs, others find the urban experience exciting ! They enjoy the daily hustle and bustle and find the nightlife necessary, so much it makes sleep seem useless.
When it comes to architecture, lofts and penthouses are types of dwellings that are enviable in any city. This is an expensive market that comes with alot of perks like custom layouts, luxury decor, wide-open spaces, building management and more. They're popular with individuals with a certain lifestyle, young professionals and people seeking the best real estate has to offer.
1. Open plan
Also called open-concept, it is a blueprint for lofts and penthouses. It's a floor plan with a 360° view with almost no blind spot.
Another thing is the size of the floor plan, it's a blank canvas that ranges from 720 to 5000 sq.ft. or more. Because of the high ceilings, you can have different layout options. A main floor with a mezzanine, two or three floors, etc.
These layouts include striking visual elements like open ceilings with exposed beams, electrical wiring, fixtures and HVAC ducts. The use of materials like metal, wood, concrete is preferred, for an industrial look.

2. Spectacular views
As a general rule, the creative process follows principles of Bauhaus living. Over-sized fenestration, geometric shapes like rectangles and spheres, no ornamentation, furniture pieces featuring rounded corners and curved walls.
It's an architectural concept that combines fine arts and craft, with function in mind and finesse for the interior design. They're carefully planned so you can appreciate the space from every angle.
3. Outstanding interiors
There's something about lofts and penthouses and the high-end interior finishes. Complex architectural elements fit perfectly in those spaces. The material installed cover large surfaces for stunning results. You're able to see entire patterns, colors and every detail.
The owners of these spaces relish in their unique characteristics, a decor customized for maximum comfort and living.
Living in the city has many advantages. You're close to everything ! Near downtown, the core of the city, proximity stores and services. Public transportation takes you anywhere within an hour or so. Having density in a neighborhood is something that is greatly beneficial, it brings people together, improves safety and attracts businesses that become hotspots.
Snowdown Theatre condominiums is a good example of taking an old neglected building and bring it back to its former glory. Once a very popular venue in the 30's for movie projections, this project is today the home of luxury condos, with a trendy decor inspired by the Jazz age in the book The Great Gatsby.
Montreal has a few residential hubs. These projects focus on building a mix of condos, lofts and penthouses with a commercial side. Actually, they function like a city. You can live there, do your groceries, meet someone for coffee downstairs at a restaurant, then easily hop on a train, pick-up your dry-cleaning on your way back from work and find everyday items at a convenient store after hours.
Many neighborhoods across Montreal have new towers in construction. Some are for purchase, others are rental spaces for the most part. A few projects are :
